Modern Pentathlon Coaching
Five
Disciplines.
One Athlete.
Fencers learn to shoot. Swimmers learn to ride. Runners learn to fight. Structured periodisation across all five events — for juniors chasing Olympic qualification, military officers preparing for CISM, and late-discovered age-groupers who refuse to be average.

The System
Methodology
Behind the Numbers.
Pentathlon is not five sports. It is one sport with five expressions. The coaching methodology treats the athlete as a single system — where every training decision is weighed against its effect on all five events simultaneously.
Head coach credentials: UIPM Level 3 · 14 years programme design · 6 athletes at Youth Olympic Games · 3 CISM medallists.
Baseline Diagnostics
Every athlete begins with a 3-day combine — laser-pistol group testing, 200m swim time trial, 1-touch épée bout series, dressage assessment, and 3200m track time. Data captured, weaknesses ranked by impact on combined score.
Block Periodisation
Training is structured in 4-week mesocycles. Accumulation, transmutation, realisation, and recovery — each block targeting the discipline with highest improvement ceiling that week. No junk volume.
Cross-Discipline Transfer
Cardiovascular work from swimming loads into run economy. Shooting breath control transfers to épée decision windows. Every session is designed to earn double return across disciplines.
Competition Simulation
Monthly simulation days replicate full-day pentathlon format — morning shooting, midday fencing, afternoon swim-run. Fatigue management and mental sequencing are trained explicitly, not assumed.
Data Review Cadence
Weekly 20-minute video call. Monthly full programme review. All training logged in shared dashboard. Athletes see their own progress curves in real time — no guessing, no blind faith.
The Five Events
Discipline
Modules.
Each event is coached as a standalone system — with its own diagnostics, training blocks, and combine scoring. Then they are woven together.
One touch. One second.
Épée Fencing
Decision-speed training under fatigue. Bout analysis from video, footwork sequencing on sensor mat, tactical pattern drilling against southpaw and orthodox opponents.
